Every year the Holliston Girl Scouts help the Holliston Newcomers collect food for Thanksgiving Baskets for local families in need of assistance.

There are three ways your troop can help:

  • Assist with the Food Drive at Shaw’s on 11/14/2015
  • Assemble a “basket” by asking everyone in your troop to donate the components
  • Make cards to go in the Thanksgiving baskets

The Sign-up link can be used to sign up to participate in the food collection at Shaws on November 14th, and it also has information for troops looking to make a basket, including this year’s item list (which has changed a bit from last year). The donation list is also included at the bottom of this post.

Please contact Lisa Brown with any questions @ lisciacca@hotmail.com

More information

Baskets:
To “make a basket” please put your troop’s non-perishable contributions for a Thanksgiving meal into a shopping bag.  If your troop is able to include monetary donations for the turkey and pie/produce, that is also appreciated.  The donation for a turkey is $20 and the pie/produce is $10.

Please bring your finished basket to the Shaw’s Food Drive on 11/14 or contact Lisa Brown to arrange pick-up/drop off.

The following is the shopping list for the non-perishable items:

    • Canned or Jarred Turkey Gravy
    • Canned Corn
    • Can of Cranberry Sauce
    • Bag or Box of Stuffing
    • Box of Brownie Mix
    • Roasting Pan
    • Holiday Napkins

Cards:

If your troop can not do a shift at Shaws, please consider having your troop make a basket and/or cards.  All finished baskets will include cards, so having your troop participate in this way would be greatly appreciated.  They should just be a generic, homemade “Happy Thanksgiving” card.

Cards need to be completed by 11/20 to be included with the finished baskets.  Please drop them off at the food drive at Shaws on 11/14 or email Lisa Brown to arrange drop off/pick up: lisciacca@hotmail.com.
